Compatibility is key

Associate Editor Laurie Peach picks noteworthy CAE Software

By Laurie Peach -- Design News, October 5, 1998

In CAE as well as CAD, compatibility is key. ANSYS' new release of DesignSpace(reg) 4.0 operates in a multi-CAD CAE environment, completely associative with native part files created in Pro/ENGINEER, Unigraphics, SolidWorks, and Mechanical Desktop. It also supports files saved in Parasolid and ACIS formats. DesignSpace 4.0 features advanced controls to share data with the ANSYS 5.5 family of products when more advanced product analysis is needed. In addition, the software offers a new Shape Wizard that predicts the optimized shape of a solid model to perform its intended function. The Shape Wizard can be used to reduce part material without sacrificing structural integrity. ANSYS Inc. Product Code 4427
