The economy may be spiraling down, but if an onslaught of new orders is any indication, iRobot seems to be unaffected.
On Thursday, iRobot was awarded two contracts from the U.S. Army, totaling $19.1 million. Both awards are under the current xBot contract from the U.S. Army Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training, and Instrumentation (PEO STRI).
One contract for $13.3 million, includes the addition of 165 PackBot 510 with FasTac Kit
robots to be delivered in April 2009, while the second award allows for
$5.8 million in spare parts and mission accessories including updated
controllers, manipulators and cameras, according to a released
statement.
