Gadget Freak Case 138: Monster Power Blender is Sweetly Green
Design News Staff -- Design News, April 2, 2009
Rick Crammond created a turbine blender using the principles of Nikola Tesla. The Tesla blender achieves accelerated performance by combining water and air pressure simultaneously to the turbine nozzle. The blender is fueled by an off-grid, self-contained, solar-powered, re-circulating fluid system. The Tesla blender is green in its power use and made from recycled parts. Crammond incorporated solar, battery, electric, hydraulic, pneumatic, magnetic and mechanical systems into a powerful conglomeration.

In all my years as a tech I have never been more inspired to encourage the young to get into the world of engineering. This application certainly tugs at the heart strings of the American dream of being anything you want to be. From one techy to another, Kudos man.

All you need is a big mouth bass and you can compete with Saturday Night Live for ratings!

Where else can you spend over $500.00 on a 29.99 item and still be entertained...LOL
Perhaps recycle the money.

Gee, I have a 25-year-old 120V AC-powered Oster blender that works loads better than the "Monster Power Blender". Running as long as the MPB did in this video, the Oster would have liquefied the banana and apple, instead of just spinning the chunks around. This project is an April Fools joke, right?

Anyone who thinks this isn't practical is probably someone who doesn't value entertainment very much. Entertainment, folks, IS the final frontier (and the first frontier and all the frontiers in between). A brain-dead zombie can purchase an ordinary blender at Wal-Mart for $29.99—and many do—but where’s the fun in that? If your kitchen appliances do not require protective eye-ware to operate them, you’re not having fun yet. Not only did Mr. Crammond entertain himself (probably) for hours putting this thing together and making the video, his endeavor is now radiating entertainment across the universe. I, personally, have been struck by several amuseons (the basic particle of entertainment) radiated by his project. This is why Heathkit continued to sell stereo and TV kits for several years after you could buy just as good a unit already assembled from a chain store; it was FUN to build the kits; it was entertainment. Thank you, Mr. Crammond, for amusing me for half an hour (I love the tin-foil safety Tuc; I’ll bet K-Mart doesn’t have those).
