Marketed as a simple retrofit replacement for fluid power components, the Explorer actuator from Exlar integrates a planetary roller screw, brushless motor, linear actuator, amplifier and controller into a single package. The actuator comes in stroke lengths from two to 24 inches and can provide 2,000 lbs. of thrust and linear velocities to 25 ips. According to Exlar, the Explorer Series' lower-installed cost makes it preferable to hydraulics or pneumatics.
